A motorhome is the perfect getaway to explore France with the freedom and convenience.
Avis Car-Away offer a wide range of motorhomes, with a choice of sizes and styles to suit your requirements.
All Avis Car-Away motorhomes are, on average, under 18 months old and undergo regular maintenance and service checks prior to every rental.

Inclusions:

Public Liability: Public liability insurance protects Avis Car-Away for EUR760,000 in case of fire or explosion. Public liability is unlimited in case of accident.
Vehicle Kit: 2 bottles of propane gas (one full, the other one half full), 1 bottle of toilet chemicals, 1 fire extinguisher, 1 water hose, 1 jerrycan (20 litres), 1 electric cord + European adapter, 1 broom + dustpan, 5 clothes hangers, 1 kit of spare fuses and bulbs, 1 bilingual “User’s Manual”, 1 guide of selected campgrounds in France.
Tourist Information: Road Maps, List of campgrounds, maps of ‘ Aires de services’ (Service Areas) plus Regional Suggested Itineraries.
Cooking Utensils and Dishes: 6 plates, 1 can opener, 6 dessert plates, 1 corkscrew, 6 glasses, 1 bottle opener, 6 bowls, mugs 1 frying pan, 6 knives, 2 sauce pans, 6 forks, 1 salad bowl, 6 spoons, 1 platter, 6 tea spoons, 1 strainer, 1 potato peeler, matches, 1 kitchen knife.

Exclusions:

Handling/Service Fee:: Mandatory Charge EUR110, prepaid in Australian Dollars. This includes the first bottle of propane gas and first bottle of toilet chemicals.
One Way Fees: One way rentals within France are permitted except to/from Ajaccio (Corsica); the one way fee is between EUR120-580 + Tax and is prepaid in Australian Dollars. International one way fees are on a request basis from the Paris West depot only, minimum 14 days apply; fees apply.
Bedding Kit: EUR35 /person, paid locally. Must be pre-booked. Includes: 2 Sheets, 1 Pillow, 1 Pillowcase and 1 Blanket. Towels are not included.
Transfers: Available upon application for an additional prepaid fee. Transfers are available from CDG or ORY Airports, Eurostar Paris, Gard du Nord or any hotel in Paris for up to 6 passengers or 7 passengers with up to 6 bikes. 

Conditions:

Calculation of Rates: Rates are calculated and charged per seasonal calendar day.
Minimum Age: 23 years
Maximum Age: No limit.
Licence Requirement: All drivers must have held a full, valid licence for a minimum of 2 years. The drivers licence must be current and be valid for the whole duration of the rental.
Minimum Rental: 7 days. Subject to change in peak periods i.e. Christmas. If the motorhome is needed for a shorter period of time the minimum 7 day charge will still apply.
Collection Time: Pick up time is between 9am–11am or between 2pm–5pm (closed for lunch). Saturday afternoons - on request.
Return Time: Return time is between 9am-12pm or between 2pm-5pm. Generally no returns on Saturdays, on request basis only. No drop offs on French Public Holidays.
Branch Hours: All locations are different, please ask  for details.   All depots are closed on Sundays for pick ups & drop offs, as well as the following dates: 09 Apr, 01 May, 08 May, 28 May, 15 Aug, 01 Nov, 24 Dec, 25 Dec, 31 Dec.

Optional Extras:

GPS, Portable: EUR10 /day, max EUR120 /rental. Available in Paris only. Maps applicable to Europe. An additional security deposit of EUR200 is required at time of collection.
Bike Rack: EUR4 /day, max EUR80 /rental. Can hold up to 3 adult bikes.
Picnic Table: EUR4 /day, max EUR80 /rental.
Baby Seat/Booster Seat: EUR4 /day, max EUR80 /rental.

Insurance/Excess Reduction:

Insurance Excess: EUR3,000 in the event of accidental damage and/or theft of the vehicle.
CDW Insurance: This item is optional. EUR16 /day. Minimum charge EUR112, maximum charge EUR750. With the purchase of Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), the client’s responsibility is reduced from a maximum of EUR3,000 to EUR400 per occurrence. Exclusions apply, contact DriveAway for details.
PAI - 24 hour Breakdown Insurance: This item is optional. EUR8 /day, max EUR300 /rental. This includes assistance to passengers and vehicle in case of mechanical breakdown or non-responsible accident. Exclusions apply.

Additional Information:

Vehicle Age: Guaranteed newer vehicle; not older that two model years.
Security Deposit: Cash - Not available. Security deposit of EUR3,000, credit card imprint only.
Animals in Vehicle: No animals are permitted inside the motorhomes.
Smoking in Vehicles: Smoking is not permitted in any of the vehicles.
Fuel: Client is advised to return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel, the same as collection.
Storage: Free storage for luggage or other valuables, eg. plane tickets etc. Not available for One-Way rentals.
Cleaning Fee: Indoor cleaning charges will apply if the vehicle is not returned clean.
VAT: VAT is applied to those items paid at time of collection.

MOTORHOMES IN FRANCE
Motorhome Rental Rates vary according to season, the rates are  higher in the months of July and August, being the "High Season".
Low season Jan - March, Nov - Dec
Mid season April - June, Sept - Oct
High Season July - August
If you wish to book a Motorhome in the High Season, we strongly advise you  to book many months in advance as demand often exceeds supply.
Rental rates are per seasonal calendar day
Renters and additional drivers must have held a valid licence for a minimum of 12 months
Minimum driver age is 20yrs - no maximum age limit
Minimum Hire period is 7 days.

Motorhome Power Supply
The refrigerator, heater, water heater, stove and range operate on propane gas.
The dash air conditioner is powered by the engine while driving and other items by an outside 230V power supply.

Vehicle Pick up and Return Times

Between 09.00 and 11.30 and 14.00 and 17:00 Penalties are charged for late returns without prior authorization.
Documentation required on collection:-
Must present a valid driving licence, credit card, passport and Pre-Paid voucher/Booking Confirmation before you can collect your vehicle
You will receive a full orientation of the motorhome, including client's maintenance use and responsibility on collection of vehicle.
Orientation consists of a video in English introducing general concepts of motorhome use as well as a personal instructional walk around of motorhome by a qualified instructor.
Operator manual is provided  in English and French.
It is advised to allow approx one hour for the Avis Car-Away staff to provide the detailed vehicle explanation on collection.
Vehicles are only permitted for use on sealed, public, official roads and should only be parkedd a secure parking areas/campsites.
All vehicles are NON-SMOKING.

SOME FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:-
Do I need a special licence to drive a motorhome?
No. Drivers should have held a full valid licence for a minimum of 12 – 36 months, depending on the supplier.
Is there a minimum rental period?
Yes 7 days.
What is included in the rental rate?
This varies depending on the supplier, but generally rates include basic insurance, local tax, unlimited mileage.  Most motorhomes are supplied with personal kits (e.g. bed linen, towels, doonas) and/or kitchen/living equipment (e.g. cooking utensils, cutlery, crockery, toaster). Some even come with a TV & DVD player.
Will I need a credit card to collect my motorhome?
Yes, a credit card is required for the security deposit.
How much is the security deposit?
Approximately EUR1000 – 2000 will be frozen or imprinted on the credit card, depending on the supplier and insurance type.
Where can I pick up my motorhome?
Paris West (Rueil Malmaison), Paris South (Brétigny sur Orge), Brest, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Montpellier, Toulouse, Ajaccio (Corsica). Charvonnex (Geneva), Saint Jean du Cardonnay (Rouen), Lescar (Pau), La Mexiere (Rennes), Orvault (Ancenis), Seclin (Lille), Fegersheim (Strasbourg) and Saint-Eulalie (Bordeaux).
Are there restrictions where I can drive the motorhome?
Yes, travel into some parts of Eastern Europe may not be permitted. Please check at time of booking.
Can I take a motorhome on a ferry?
Yes.
Can Booster and Baby Seats be fitted?
Yes they are available on request for some models – Please request at time of booking.
What happens if I breakdown?
All companies offer a roadside assistance program. Details will be given at time of collection.
