Read Rod Slaters Views On Climate Change - Here Open Letter to Chair of Telstra for display on eurogroup.com.au website Letter To Inside Cover Re Telstra 2009 Dear Rob and/or Daniel, I sympathise with Sue McKenna ( 'Called to Account' Inside Cover 27th November 2009). Like Sue, I have had an ongoing 'fight' with Telstra over the past two years. Firstly, after communicating with me for some 37 years they stole my name and substituted it with Mr. Unknown Unknown. Now whilst that did not unduly concern me at the time, for I was still able to remember who I was, even if Telstra couldn't, it did become a problem when I sought to upgrade my Big Pond account, as Telstra would not permit me to act on my account as the name I gave (Which was the same one my Mother gave to me at birth in 1942 and the same one that I gave to Telstra when I opened the account in 1971) did not correspond with their records! From there the problem grew, as I was not aware of the name they had on their records and they refused to tell me. After several letters, phone calls, emails and faxes, all to no avail, Andrea Burns, from Today Tonight, came to my rescue. Despite that intervention, which was aired Nationally on TV, Telstra still refused to give me my name back. Fortunately a second intervention by Today Tonight, some 3 weeks later, which was also aired Nationally on prime time TV, Telstra did, eventually restore my name, which then enabled me to upgrade my Big Pond account. But the incompetence did not stop there, for since then Telstra has threatened to disconnect my service for an alleged 'dishonoured' cheque, which was not in fact a dishonoured cheque, but a 'stop payment' on a lost cheque, initiated by me AFTER Telstra had already banked the replacement cheque! And the 'beat goes on', for on the 18th November 2009 Telstra issued a further 'disconnect notice' for alleged non payment of my telephone account, which was not due for payment until 26th November 2009! Attached are copies of my last 3 letters to the incompetent Chair and Board of Telstra (non of which have been answered and which are now on display, for all to read, on my website at www.eurogroup.com.au ) wherin I threaten, not to change phone companies, but instead to purchase shares in Telstra in order that I may, in future, attend their AGM's and ask the questiions, relative to the continued and worsening incompetence of telstra, direct to the Chair. I would invite Sue McKenna to do likewise and join me, in person, at the next Telstra AGM! Yours sincerely Rod Slater
